Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is Disney’s Flagship resort at Walt Disney World. The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa are two separate buildings exclusivily with Disney Vacation Club studios, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units.

So you would think that the Disney Imagineers would spend more time designing the accommodations to meet the needs of all age groups. This includes one of, if not thee largest, demographic group of Disney guests. Seniors.
Recently, Nancy and I, both seniors, spent a long weekend in a Lake View Deluxe Studio at the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. It was our second time there. And yes we did have a mostly wonderful time. From our Lake View Deulxe Studio we were greeted most morning with stunningly beautiful sun rises like this.

And in the lobby of the Villas building there were impromptu suprises where we interacted with Disney royalty such as these.

Yet, the more we looked, the more are eyebrows were raised.
Here are a 5 items that seniors, and any guest with mobility issues, need to be aware of before booking a stay in one of these Disney Vacation Club units.
1. Single Bathroom Sink in Villas of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Deluxe Studio
The Villas of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa are upscale accommodations. Even Disney says so with its categorization of its different Watl Disney World resorts.
The split bathroom in the Lake View Deluxe Studios are a really great approach for guests of any age. Yet, only one sink? Even the split bathrooms on Disney Cruise Line ships, at least the ones we have been on, have a sink in both parts of the split bathroom configuration.

I guess you could always wash your hands in the kitchenette area’s sink?

Thanks for this article. These villas are really not good for seniors at all. Not only are the issues you presented a real problem, but from the pictures it seems like the whole villa is rather cramped. We stayed at a 2 bedroom villa at Boulder Ridge last visit and they were fabulous.
